Matt and I met while in college at Western Connecticut State University. I was a freshman in my sorority (still with braces) and he was a junior in Sigma Chi fraternity. We met at a Greek function and became friends. Our love story didn't start until after college though.
Matt was then living in Kentucky working for a university football team and I had just gotten out of my college relationship. We started talking more than we had before and before I knew it, it was every night on FaceTime. One night Matt asked if I wanted to make it official and start dating. I was on a plane 2 weeks later in Kentucky as his official girlfriend (it was a long time coming!). We dated long distance for a year traveling back and forth from Kentucky and Connecticut (with a little bit of Nashville, TN in between-where our first date actually was).
Then the University of Texas came calling and offered Matt and job in Austin, we jumped at the opportunity to be in the same state together (and a city with a mall-Kentucky was too rural for me). I packed up my whole life into my car and met him in Austin 3 months later, right after our 1 year anniversary.
We were dating for exactly 3 years and 1 day when Matt proposed to me in Connecticut. We were home for my goddaughter's christening and he told me he just couldn't wait any longer. He didn't even have a ring until the day he proposed! He went out with his
sister to a local jeweler while I was visiting with friends for the day. He got down on one knee that night in front of his family at his childhood home with his brother in law sneaking around the corner to take pictures. I was so surprised and caught off guard I had asked if it was real the whole time instead of immediately saying yes!
We flew home the next day but I had gotten a stomach bug from my goddaughter during the middle of the night so Matt had to take care of me the whole flight (way to kick off an engagement!).
Now that we are back home and starting to plan our wedding and marriage we are so excited for what's to come. Taking extra time to focus on our future marriage through our church marriage preparations.
We just can't wait to be husband and wife forever!
